Six Month Smiles – You Can Do Ortho (that patients want)!

In these difficult economic times, Dentistry has not been immune to the effects.  And, if we’re being honest, most dentistry is elective.  It’s a tough battle we’re in right now.  Dentists are the last bastion of entrepreneurism in health care.  We are tasked with the unenviable goal of encouraging people (who generally avoid us) to seek our services… AND PAY FOR IT. Continue reading

Today’s Quote – And Must Read List

A friend of mine, Dr. Mike Maroon (founder of Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics), wrote a nice endorsement of my blog on Facebook today. But, along with fans, come the odd “anti-fans.” When you’re an idea-man or simply vocal, you’re bound to cultivate some haters. So it goes. Nature of the beast.  And it was no surprise that another dentist wrote some unfavorable comments  about me on Mike’s FB thread. It reminded me of a quote by one of my favorite authors, Harry Beckwith: Continue reading

Social Media Ads & Landing Pages

Facebook advertising for dentistsI’m still here (after nearly a week of not writing)!  I’ve got a long list of topics to write about here on TheDentalWarrior.com. But, I was inspired to write this based on a recent experience.

I’ve been skeptical about the value and potential of social media, in general.  And, I’ve been leery of paid advertising in social media like Facebook.  In a previous blog post, I mentioned that I was surprised to have some luck (ROI) with Facebook ads.  I initially did it as a bit of a lark.  But, to my surprise, I have gotten a number of good patients from those ads.  So, it occurred to me that I should expand my advertising efforts on Facebook.  Check this out… Continue reading

The Dental Warrior interviewed by “The Whole Tooth.”

I should title this blog entry, “Don’t Get Interviewed When You Have a Bad Case of Bronchitis!” 🙂

I was interviewed by Hogan Allen and Richard Train for their “The Whole Tooth” radio show on BlogTalkRadio.  Hogan and Richard are the owners of Get Results for Dentists.  The topic was Dental Office Safety and related to my popular blog post, “Danger at the Front Desk” posted last February.  Continue reading

Book Review: Unlimited New Patients – Volume 3

Unlimited New Patients - Volume 3 (dental marketing book)Let’s face a simple fact:  Dentists are largely clueless about marketing!  My friends at New Patients Inc recently published “Unlimited New Patients – Volume 3.” I bought the first two editions many years ago.   At the time, they were tremendously valuable.  The new 3rd edition is in a class all by itself.  If you’re looking for the key to the marketing kingdom, this is it.  If you think you know what REALLY motivates dental consumers, prepare to have your belief system shaken up. Continue reading

Facebook Advertising – Is it all that?

Social media is all the rage today…. and for many good reasons.  Overall, I think social media can be an important and effective piece of the marketing puzzle.  You should definitely be dipping your feet in the social media pool.  And, there are a number of ways to do that.  Two of them include a Facebook “fan page” and Facebook ads.  But, I’m afraid that fickle dentists are apt Continue reading

Today’s Photo Shoot

In keeping with the recent photography theme, I wanted to share today’s “glamor photo shoot,” or if you prefer… simply the “after” shots.  🙂

This patient found me via my website and was particularly impressed with the cosmetic results demonstrated in the “before & after” photos.  She is also one of my patients that commented on the repetitive stock photos found on so many other dentists’ websitesContinue reading

DentalDigitalPhotography.com

Today is an installation of the “mutual admiration society.” 🙂  My friend, Dr. Chip Payet, is a dentist in Charlotte, North Carolina.  We’ve known each other for many years since meeting on DentalTown.com.  Chip is what I call an “entrepreneurial dentist.”  He loves dentistry, and he’s always looking out for the latest and greatest.  He passionately embraces whatever is new and runs with it in true Dental Warrior style!

Chip has many areas of expertise, but one worth noting here is his knowledge of digital dental photography.  Continue reading

This Woman Is on Every Dental Website!

If it wasn’t for my website, I’d be living under a bridge!  Many of you have heard me make this comment before.  While it’s a bit of an exaggeration, my point is that my dental practice website is the lifeblood of my practice.  On the other hand, I OFTEN hear from dentists about how their websites don’t do anything for them.  How can there be such a disparity of experiences?  Continue reading

Google Rocks (Adwords vs. Places vs. Organic)!

Had a walk-in patient this morning.  Well… not exactly a walk-in.  He is a transient cable technician who roams around the country doing work for cable TV companies.  He had an old bonding break off his central incisor last night.  He walked in after finding us on Google without calling.

Using his mobile phone, he Googled “Emergency Dentist.”  What is interesting is that he skipped right past Continue reading
