I haven’t presented a case in a while. So here goes!
This young man didn’t like his smile. Basically, he didn’t like his crooked teeth and wanted them straight in a reasonable amount of time. He turned down traditional orthodontics on the basis of the extended time it might take.
Six-ish Months…
The case ended up taking 8 months. While it’s not a “perfect” result, the goal of Six Month Smiles short term orthodontics is to achieve a significant improvement in a reasonable amount of time.
To say Kevin was thrilled is an understatement. We could hardly get him to put the mirror down! He kept looking at his smile over and over and saying, “I can’t believe it.” His girlfriend was in attendance for his debracketing appointment, and she was very pleased, as well.
Without further ado, here are some photos. Side-by-side images are before & after.
Next we’re going to do some whitening. Then perhaps some recontouring and bonding.
Are you doing short term ortho, yet?
Six Month Smiles short term orthodontic system is a fantastic service to add to your practice. I wrote up a review of Six Month Smiles (my 2nd most popular post to date) here. This patient wasn’t going to have “regular braces” because it would take too long. In reality, veneers weren’t an option. Without having the option of short term ortho, this patient would have most likely just settled for living with his existing crooked smile.

So far we only had one 6mo smile case but I expect things to pick up… One question how did you approach #22&27 with was rotated.
Hi Kamran. Thanks for chiming in.
Keep at it… cases will come. Just make sure your existing patients know you offer SMS.
I approached the canines according to protocol: Reprox all the anterior teeth and run through the wire sequence.
I think your blog is hilarious and informative. It is hard to create that happy medium. I was also seriously happy to find a fellow dental office who offers the 6 month Smiles Program. I think it is such a benefit for so many people, and Kevin looks great! Keep up all your great work.
