Hi everybody! I’ve been a long-time denizen of various online dental forums like DentalTown.com and the ACE email list. My participation in online dental groups started back around 1992 on Compuserve’s MedSIG Dental Forum (no longer in existence).
For all those years, I’ve enjoyed sharing what has worked for me in my dental practice and what hasn’t. I’ve also shared my other passions (guns, self-defense and personal safety). And during that time, I’ve had a tremendous amount of positive feedback for my online musings. Hundreds of emails each year, if not thousands, have led me to this. I created this blog in order to centralize and archive my thoughts on those topics. A majority will be on the dental topics. 🙂
I’ll still always be a regular on the forums. No worries!
Here on TheDentalWarrior.com , you’ll find my thoughts, trials, and tribulations with dental products, dental techniques and services, marketing ideas and efforts, patient management, treatment presentation, and I’ll sprinkle in some thoughts about personal security, self-defense, and safety. That may seem like an odd combination, but over many years it has resonated with many dentists on other forums. And, that’s why I’m doing this.
A recurring theme you’ll find among my reviews and recommendations is that they will not require a bank loan or have a protracted return on investment. My favorite things are usually those with a reasonable “price of admission” and a nearly immediate ROI.
I expect this blog will contain a combination of writing and video. I’m just now learning WordPress, so bear with me as I sort this out. I’ve got a lot of work to do, yet. This is just the beginning! So at the outset, this website won’t blow anyone away with special effects or fancy graphic design. The appearance is “plain-Jane” right now. But, it’s all about information. And, I’ve got a ton of it coming!
Eventually, I may have select guest writers and videos, as well.
We dental professionals are a unique bunch fighting a challenging “war.” We are the last bastion of health care entrepreneurism. Personally, I like (love) it that way. And, in this economy it’s become an even more daunting endeavor. I hope this blog will prove to be a rallying point for those of us slogging through this battlefield we call “private practice.”

thanks Mike!
Good Luck to you Doctor, and have fun doing this!
A blog is a great idea and you are going to be fantastic at it. You have a lot of good information to share. I’m looking forward to it. Have fun!
Thanks, Sandy! Figured I should have a central archive. But, I’ll still be blabbing in my usual haunts, like DentalTown.com!
great… now I gotta hear you spew in ANOTHER spot…? Good luck!
LOL! You can run, but you can’t hide, Lance!! 😉
This will be great. I’ve always enjoyed reading your reviews and tips on DT. Its hard to find unbiased information. Thanks for being a great source of information for us dentists just starting out.
Thanks for your nice comments! I’ll still see everyone on DT, too, of course! Nothing changing there.
Good for you Mike. I love to see the creation of new things, new ideas and new resources! Awesome!
Thanks, Ryan!
Great Mike!
I know you won’t be silent on any relevant dental or non-dental topic that strikes your fancy. I look forward to your continuing musings, thoughts, tips, or just plain BS–always entertaining!
Good luck, your “old” dental friend, Karen G.
Poor Karen… my long-time and local dentist friend… has put up with my rantings in person for many years! 🙂
This will be an awesome service and source of information. I wish you the best and can’t wait to see this evolve. I think it will be big.
Hey Mike,
This is a great idea…I always enjoy reading your posts, just don’t forget to throw in some “fast car stuff” every now and then for us “speed junkies”. 🙂
Can you tell me which insurance companies are the best ones to work with and which ones I should avoid?
🙂
LOL, Sam! Sam and I go WAY back to the earliest days of “social media.” We’re talking almost 20 years ago! On Compuserve, there were the SIGs (special interest groups), and we had a dental forum. I was a noob dentist, and Sam and company kept me on the straight and narrow. 😉
Was that impregum you used to impression? I think you were trying the new material from 3m. built it, photocore, supreme ultra were rated high in CRA . Supreme ultra and photocore were very expensive to use so this idea would save a lot(about $50/cc). They mentioned the new bonding agent from kerr (xtr?) as being very strong for all buildup materials. Even stronger than the manufacturers recommended bond in many cases.
Yep. Impregum. And, yeah… it dawned on me that I was not only wasting a lot of my time doing a traditional build-up before prepping, but I was also wasting a lot of (expensive) material.
Bravo, Dr.! I will look forward to reading your every post!
This is some great information about this site. I agree and will let others know so that they can post as well. Love it, will be back and see what others have to say as well.
